If you have never played Raja Mantri Chor Sipahi or some similar variation of the game in your childhood, then you are not Indian, or you are a pro at Bluffing. If it is the latter, this revamped card-based game version is perfect for getting nostalgic with friends and family. Raja Mantri Chor Sipahi has been reimagined as a card game by Desi Board Games to keep the classic game alive, and the fun continues for long.
In the box, you will find eight reference cards, 55 gold coins and 25 character cards(5 of each). Each of the characters– Raja, Rani, Chor, Mantri and Sipahi, have dedicated actions that can be performed by the players. But this is not the game. Raja Mantri Chor Sipahi is all about performing the deeds on the claim of being the character, versus the OG version was about spotting the Chor. You can bluff till you are challenged by other players.
How to begin?
Deal character cards
3-4 Players: Shuffle 3 character cards of each type
5-6 Players: Shuffle 4 Character cards of each type
7-8 Players: Shuffle 5 Character cards of each type
(Remaining cards will not be used in the game).
Deal 2 cards to each player. Players can always look at their cards but must keep them face down in front of them, not showing others. Place the remaining shuffled cards face down in the middle as the draw pile. The discard pile is empty in the beginning.
Deal money and reference cards Each player starts with two gold and one reference card. Keep the rest of the gold in the centre of the play area (treasury).
Game Play-
Players take turns in a clockwise order, with the starting person chosen randomly. During each turn, a player selects a single action. Action is considered successful unless challenged or blocked by other players. The game concludes instantly when a player accumulates 20 gold.
After a player takes an action or performs a block using a character card, every other player (even if not part of that action) has the opportunity to challenge the last played move and uncover a possible bluff. The challenger must have a minimum of 2 gold to perform this action.
